Thanks again for stopping by to see the dogs in my window. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and how DBB got started.

Ever since I was a kid, I've been crazy about dogs. I just love them. Now I make my living creating pictures of my favorite creatures. Whether it's done in paint, pencil, or pen and ink, there's nothing I'd rather depict than a dog. I think it's because I get so much joy from just being around the furry little characters.

In the summer of 2003 I was looking for a new creative outlet, because my work as a video camera operator was no longer satisfying. A friend from the dog park owned a dog boutique named, Doggy Style, NYC. Andy agreed if I painted her dog Davis, then she would start hanging other small paintings of mine. So thanks to Davis, DBB was born.

Davis was the first DBB painting, but he wasn't the first dog I ever painted. The first dog painting I did was for my wife Corrine. It was a Valentines present in 2002, of our first dog Fairmont. Thanks to a friend who used to dog sit, Fairmont developed a taste for coffee. I know, I know, it's not good for them. I never gave it to him.

Anyway, Fairmont used to stare longingly at the cappucinnos that I made every morning, so that's what the painting was about. I even used real espresso to tint the canvas. For months the picture had the beautiful smell of coffee drifting from it.

I like to think of my pictures as environmental portraits. I look to capture the spirit of the dogs. What are they passionate about? Are they ball crazy? A little thief? Or addicted to coffee.

Color plays a big part in my work as well. I want the image to jump off the canvas at you, even if it's a picture of Bettini acting shy.

I work from photographs that either I've taken or ones you give to me. I'll talk with you to find out more about your dog(s) as well. I want to hear stories or about habits that might give me an idea for the artwork.

When I'm not painting, I'm usually outside on my bike or running on the trails with Zephyr and Bettini. That's because my other passion is triathlon. In our new hometown of Baker City, Oregon, there's no shortage of nature for us to play in.

Drop me a line or give me a call if you would like a painting of your dog. I know we can make a treasure you can cherish forever.
